META & AI

Meta has recently deactivated its AI-generated profiles on Facebook and Instagram following significant criticism. These profiles, introduced over a year ago, featured AI-generated imagery and text, aiming to engage users with virtual personas. However, they faced backlash due to concerns over authenticity and the quality of interactions.

Users reported that the AI-generated content often appeared sloppy, leading to negative engagement. Many of these AI bots hadn't shared new content since early 2024, raising questions about their relevance and effectiveness.

In response to the growing criticism, Meta has taken steps to delete these AI-generated accounts. A spokesperson stated that the company gained valuable insights from creating these chatbots and is now focusing on new AI initiatives that allow for more personalized and meaningful interactions.

This move reflects Meta's ongoing efforts to balance innovation in artificial intelligence with user expectations and ethical considerations. The company continues to explore AI applications that enhance user experience while addressing concerns related to authenticity and engagement.
